Through August 31 Environmental Science Series Programs at Rend Lake Visitors Center, 11981 Rend City Road, Benton, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Free admission.  A variety of environmental programs will be given.  All programs are family friendly.  For more information call (618) 724-2493.
July 26 - October 27 Gallery Exhibition: Inspired by Architecture at the Southern Illinois Art & Artisans Center, 14967 Gun Creek Trail, Whittington.  Featured in this exhibit will be sculptures by Wolf Creek Studio, paintings by Bruno Vanoudenhove, jewelry by Bill See, stained glass by Larry Zgoda, and Architectural teapots by Darlys Ewoldt, Layna Portugal and Kristi Sloniger.  For more information call (618) 629-2220.
August 4 - October 13 Cedarhurst Biennial Exhibit at Cedarhurst.  A biennial favorite, the prestigious art competition has grown to include many artists that represents the diversity of contemporary artwork being produced by artists of the Midwest.  Open to the public.  Admission is $5, members free.  For more information call (618) 242-1236.
August 4 - October 13 24th Annual Gathering of Quilts at Cedarhurst.  The wonderful textile talents of quilters of all ages are celebrated in this age-old craft.  Visitors from the tri-state region attend this annual show, which will be featured in the Beal Grand Corridor and Shrode Art Center galleries and includes approximately 25 quilts made by members of the Cedarhurst Quilters.  Open to the public.  Free admission.  For more information call (618) 242-1236.
August 4 - October 13 Snuggle and Snooze Gallery Exhibit at Cedarhurst.  In conjunction with the Annual Gathering of Quilts featured in both the Beal Grand Corridor and Shrode Art Center, Snuggle and Snooze features youth-themed and often whimsical quilts.  Open to the public.  Admission is free.  For more information call (618) 242-1236.
August 22 Thursday Night Live at Cedarhurst.  Each Thursday throughout the summer, Cedarhurst stays open to the public until 8 p.m.  Food and beer/wine concessions are available for purchase plus different activities such as live music, outdoor yoga or family art activities.  For more information call (618) 242-1236.
August 24 Customer Appreciation Day at Dale's Harley Davidson.  Dunk tank, free beer and tacos, live music, mini bike give away and more!  For more information call (618) 244-4116.

August 31 NHECM's Nocturnal Animals Greatest Hits Tour at Rend Lake, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  In nature some animals are just getting up for the day when you are going to bed.  This program features some of the Natural History Education Company's most popular nocturnal animals such as a bobcat, raccoon, and others.  For more information call (618) 724-2493.
August 31 The Life of Mary Logan, Wife of General John A. Logan at the Jefferson County Historical Village, 1411 N. 27th Street, 2 p.m.  Participants will have a first-person interpretation of Mary Logan, wife of General John A.
