Smoke Detectors and Installation Program
The City of Mt. Vernon Fire Department along with Crossroads community Hospital, Mt. Vernon Police Department, Jefferson County Health Department, Senior Services of Jefferson County, Jefferson County Ministerial Alliance, St. Mary's Hospital, National Fire Protection Association, Office of the State Fire Marshal, Illinois Department on Aging and Illinois Department of Public Health, have all come together to provide:
 

  • Free smoke detectors and installation

  • Free Night lights

  • Free home safety visits

  • Free educational seminars on fall and fire prevention


To be eligible for this program you must be one of the following:

65 or Older, Have a Disability or Limited Income.

This program is sponsored by all these people and organizations because of the supporting data about older adults being involved in preventable fall and fires.

Anyone can call and make an appointment at 618-316-0458 or print out and mail in the Smoke Detector and Night Light Installation Application.
